Strengthening OneAquaHealth’s exploitation strategy with the Horizon Results Booster

In 2025, the OneAquaHealth consortium began a structured collaboration with the Horizon Results Booster (HRB) to refine the project’s exploitation strategy and strengthen the future impact of its results.

The HRB is a free-of-charge support service funded by the European Commission and one of its flagship initiatives to help EU-funded projects strengthen the dissemination and exploitation of their results. Through expert and personalized guidance, the HRB supports project teams in turning their outputs into concrete applications, paving the way for broader use and market uptake.

After the initial consultation phase started in April 2025, the HRB team supported partners in reviewing the Key Exploitable Results (KERs) and aligning on their relevance, users, and potential uptake. This early work helped clarify internal perspectives and provided the tools needed to approach exploitation more systematically.

Building on this foundation, the consortium took part in a dedicated training session that introduced the methodology used by the HRB service. This session was essential for creating a shared understanding of exploitation concepts and preparing the groundwork for the next stage of support, which focused on the detailed analysis of three selected KERs. These results were chosen based on their strategic importance and their potential for future use beyond the project.

To explore each KER in depth, three interactive workshops were organized. Guided by the HRB experts, partners worked together to characterize the user groups who would benefit most from each result, better specify their needs, and refine the unique value propositions. During these sessions, draft Value Proposition Canvases were reviewed and improved, allowing the consortium to better understand the value each KER can create and the challenges it addresses. These moments of exchange also reinforced collaboration among partners and helped reveal complementarities across the results.

The insights gained during the HRB workshops now feed directly into the development of the project’s exploitation plan. They have helped clarify use models, identify realistic adoption pathways, and strengthen the overall coherence of the exploitation strategy. The work is not yet complete: a new set of validation workshops is planned for early 2026, during which the exploitation routes identified so far will be reviewed, adjusted, and confirmed. These sessions will ensure that the strategies developed remain aligned with user’s needs and with the technical maturity of each result as the project advances.

Through this close collaboration with the Horizon Results Booster, OneAquaHealth is building the foundations for the long-term sustainability and relevance of its solutions. The process has enhanced internal alignment, improved clarity on the value created, and strengthened the project’s ability to support healthier urban aquatic ecosystems and more informed decision-making in the years ahead.
