OneAquaHealth Project showcases AI-driven environmental surveillance at DPH2025 Conference
At the Digital Public Health Conference 2025 (DPH2025), which takes place in Madeira, Portugal between 24-26 July 2025, the OneAquaHealth project takes center stage during the session on AMR Data Surveillance for Targeted OneHealth Action, highlighting its pioneering role in integrating artificial intelligence with environmental and public health monitoring.
The session explores how antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance can be enhanced through a One Health approach, bridging human, animal, and environmental health. OneAquaHealth will contribute insights from its EU-funded initiative, which focuses on protecting urban aquatic ecosystems—critical yet often overlooked connectors between biodiversity and human wellbeing.
A key voice in the session is Carina Dantas, CEO of SHINE 2Europe and a project partner in OneAquaHealth. She will emphasize the importance of ethical sustainability and citizen engagement in digital health innovation. Drawing from her extensive experience in health, social impact, and ICT, Carina Dantas will present how AI tools and citizen science are being combined to support early detection of ecosystem degradation and emerging health threats.
